Join us at 6:30pm on January 12th at the AFS Cinema, Austin, TX
Last week the Austin Film Critics Association (AFCA) announced the winners of our 2025 Film Awards. Among their number was a special award, unique to our organization, for Best Austin Film. This year’s prize went to Blue Moon and filmmaker Richard Linklater, and we’ve lined up a way to properly celebrate with a special screening on January 12th at 6:30pm.
The film, which also picked up an AFCA Best Actor nomination for its lead Ethan Hawke, is a sparkling and heartfelt biopic, that immerses you in the era and emotion of one fateful night in 1943, as lyricist Lorenz Hart’s reckons with the opening of his former partner’s new musical, Oklahoma.

This screening, graciously hosted by the AFS Cinema, marks a special opportunity to not only see the movie on the big screen, but with a special introduction by the AFCA, and a video introduction from the film’s writer/director Richard Linklater.
We look forward to celebrating this exceptional film, and another wonderful year of cinema with you. Members of the AFCA will be in attendance before and after the film for anyone wishing to discuss the or and opportunities to become involved in our efforts to showcase and celebrate film in Austin.
Purchase your tickets to the event here. AFS is Hosting Screenings all week with the AFCA Event on January 12th at 6:30pm.
